dozakh duniyaa barnji baag'u bahar ta baaqi chhaa,
aarrah ibrahimi thyee gulzar ta baaqi chhaa!

aoly, loli, choli je kaa ganrti kaanhe haanr,
haasil thyee je to jehri jo piyaar ta baaqi chhaa!

tang hayati maan jo tahan khe maot jo kehro bhoo'a,
pahinje but'a maan paarn e Aa bezaar ta baaqi chhaa!

jahin tahan jo hoo dhiyaan chhikaenr laai kare tho was,
kanhin hik'u jo kian thi rahndo, fankaar ta baaqi chhaa!

werrh hayati jeeyu mein kaddheen ghabraayun b ta chho,
rashid saain! soohan kare sahakar ta baaqi chhaa!

Rashid Morai (1944–2014), Sindhi poet, activist, and teacher, celebrated for his revolutionary poetry and Sindhi nationalism. Authored iconic books and songs.
Syed Rashid Ali Shah was born on March 5, 1944, in Joraloe village, Taluka Moro, Naushahro Feroze District, was a Sindhi poet of resistance, activist, and teacher. His father, Syed Saeed Ali “Khadim,” a folk and classical poet, relocated the family to Moro town after their ancestral village was destroyed by floods. Rashid Morai completed his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees and began his professional career as a teacher.

Raised in a poetic household, Rashid inherited his literary sensibilities from his father and brothers, Syed Roshan Ali Shah (pen name Roshan) and Syed Masoom Ali Shah (pen name Nimarno). He wrote revolutionary poetry and songs, many of which were performed by renowned Sindhi singers. His lines, such as دل جي ويران رڻ تي ڪڪر بانورا، ٿورڙو به وسين ها ته ڇا ٿي ٿيئي (Clouds wandering over the desolate desert of the heart, if only you rained a little, what would have happened?), reflect his resistance and nationalist sentiments.

As a close companion of G. M. Syed, a mystic philosopher and pioneer of the Sindhi national movement, Rashid Morai’s work often centered on Sindhi nationalism. His notable publications include Sindhrri Jo Sodau (1970), Mahndi Sanda Geet (1986), and Dil jo Shahr (1993), with over 50 manuscripts still unpublished.

Rashid Morai passed away on March 24, 2014, leaving behind a legacy of poetic resistance and cultural pride.
