popatan warti panah gulan men, miran jhangan men panah,
keen manhoon khe mile thi, haai manhan men panah.

muhinje mithrri yaar je, mahboob mukhrri khe ddisi,
sharam khan mahtab warti, raat kakaran men panah.

ddaadh khan ddam je, zamane je ghaman khan tang thi,
zehan suhnri'a je wanjnay warti Aa kharkan men panah.

dard je lashkar dhiki neenan maan gorrhan khe kadhyon,
dornda achyo wathan thaa, muhinje daaman men panah,

soor dharti'a jaa sahi, sukh chandd'u taaran men na ggol!
kar ache takyo hittay, wath muhinje taaran men panah!

gaalh kirnari hui asar ware tareqy saan tadahn,
soch je izhar warti, shair je fun men panah!

zindagi'a bhar aaon rahndas rashda! thoraito,
dard dil muhinje warti Aa, tunhinje sharan men panah.

Rashid Morai (1944–2014), Sindhi poet, activist, and teacher, celebrated for his revolutionary poetry and Sindhi nationalism. Authored iconic books and songs.
Syed Rashid Ali Shah was born on March 5, 1944, in Joraloe village, Taluka Moro, Naushahro Feroze District, was a Sindhi poet of resistance, activist, and teacher. His father, Syed Saeed Ali “Khadim,” a folk and classical poet, relocated the family to Moro town after their ancestral village was destroyed by floods. Rashid Morai completed his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees and began his professional career as a teacher.

Raised in a poetic household, Rashid inherited his literary sensibilities from his father and brothers, Syed Roshan Ali Shah (pen name Roshan) and Syed Masoom Ali Shah (pen name Nimarno). He wrote revolutionary poetry and songs, many of which were performed by renowned Sindhi singers. His lines, such as دل جي ويران رڻ تي ڪڪر بانورا، ٿورڙو به وسين ها ته ڇا ٿي ٿيئي (Clouds wandering over the desolate desert of the heart, if only you rained a little, what would have happened?), reflect his resistance and nationalist sentiments.

As a close companion of G. M. Syed, a mystic philosopher and pioneer of the Sindhi national movement, Rashid Morai’s work often centered on Sindhi nationalism. His notable publications include Sindhrri Jo Sodau (1970), Mahndi Sanda Geet (1986), and Dil jo Shahr (1993), with over 50 manuscripts still unpublished.

Rashid Morai passed away on March 24, 2014, leaving behind a legacy of poetic resistance and cultural pride.
