Qazi Qadan (1493–1551), the first Sindhi Sufi poet, was born in Bukkur (modern-day Sukkur, Sindh) during the Samma Dynasty. Known as "The Father of Classical Sindhi Poetry," Qadan's work laid the foundation for Sindhi Sufi literature, combining spirituality with poetic brilliance.
He hailed from a pious family with roots in Sehwan and Thatta. His great-grandfather, Qazi Abdul-ul-Khair, was the first to migrate to Bukkur, where Qazi Qadan was born. Revered for his deep spirituality, Qazi's poetry embodies divine love and mysticism. He passed away in Madina, Hejaz (present-day Saudi Arabia), solidifying his legacy as a pioneering figure in Sindhi literature.
