Ibrahim Munshi was born on January 15, 1934, in Tando Mohammad Khan, Hyderabad, Sindh. When Ibrahim was in the fourth grade, his father passed away in 1945. It became tough for him to continue his studies, so he had to stop after completing the fifth level in Sindhi. Despite the hardships, Ibrahim started working hard and began writing poetry in 1949. His father, who was also a poet, greatly influenced him. At first, Ibrahim wrote romantic poetry, but later he began to express the struggles of the lower class through his poetry. He used to recite his poetry rhythmically. Around 1960, he was inspired by the revolutionary poetry of Sheikh Ayaz. Ibrahim Munshi spent five years in jail because of his revolutionary poetry and involvement in nationalist politics. He passed away on July 31, 2003.
