In 1979, he achieved the first position in his M.A. in Sindhi Literature and later secured the first position in M.A. Economics. Subsequently, he began his teaching career in the Sindhi Department of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, where he currently serves as a Professor and Chairman of the Sindhi Department. He is also the professor in charge of the Sheikh Ayaz Chair at Shah Latif University.

In 1999, he earned his H.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) from Khairpur University, specializing in the subject of "History and Role of Sindhi Literary Society," under the guidance of Dr. Tanveer Abbasi. Adel Soomri's academic achievements extend to his role as the Secretary General of the Sindhi Literary Association, a position he held twice, in 1992-94 and 2003.

Throughout his career, he has held various administrative and honorary positions, including Vice-Chairman of the "Badelbacks Arts Council" in Rohri, membership in the Senate of Shah Latif University, and Chairmanship of the "Tanveer Abbasi Memorial Committee" in 2002. He has also served as the Professor in charge of the "Sheikh Ayaz Chair" at Khairpur University, Secretary of the "Sachal Sarmast Memorial Committee" in 2002, and as a member of several academic committees, such as the Curriculum Committee at Aga Khan Board, Karachi, and Allama Iqbal University, Islamabad. Adel Soomri has also contributed as a member of the National Award Committee at the Academy of Letters in Islamabad, and as a member of the Board of Studies for both Shah Latif University, Khairpur, and the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. He is a faculty member in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro.

Adel Soomri is celebrated as an exceptional poet in various genres, including Ghazal, Vai, Nazm, and Bait. His poetry has been widely appreciated and performed by renowned artists. He gained fame through his appearances on radio and cassette recordings, further solidifying his reputation as a distinguished poet and writer.
