Sami, originally named Bhai Chain Rai Bachomal, was a prominent Sindhi poet born in 1743 in Shikarpur, Sindh. Renowned for his literary contributions, he is best known by his pen name, Sami, under which he gained widespread recognition. Sami's poetry is celebrated for its unique synthesis of Vedic philosophy and Sindhi poetic traditions, expressed through shaloks (stanzas) imbued with profound spiritual and philosophical insights.

A significant influence on Sami’s life and work was his guru, Swami Menghraj Banbhan, whom he deeply revered. To honor his mentor, Sami adopted his pen name from Swami Menghraj's name. On certain occasions, he also employed the name "Banbhan" as a secondary pen name in his writings.

Sami was deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy, and his works reflect his dedication to spiritual and philosophical thought. His poetry, compiled under the title "Sami Ja Salook" (The Shaloks of Sami), continues to hold an esteemed place in Sindhi literature, serving as a bridge between ancient wisdom and the cultural ethos of Sindh.
